About the Space
Established in 2012, the EquiSol Healing Center stands as a sanctuary, providing a safe and sacred space for rescued animals to thrive eternally while concurrently offering women a refuge for spiritual healing. This unique haven not only serves as a rehabilitation center for the rescued animals but also acknowledges their vital role in reciprocating gratitude to women seeking their own path to healing. Grounded in principles of respect for the land, the center pays homage to the ancient inhabitants of the region and embraces the profound concept of Mitakuye Oyasin, honoring everything as a relative. EquiSol stands as a testament to the interconnectedness of all living beings, fostering a harmonious environment where both women and animals find solace and transformation.

Welsh Pony
Tucker - Returned to The Star Nation

Tucker was brought to The Sanctuary in 2016 for rehab and training. His owner indicated he was very afraid of people and things and he also had a very tight body. Having foundered and. facing euthanzia from his owners, I kept him at the Sanctuary. I spent weeks giving him massage daily and tried many methods to desensitize his fears to people. We have spent thousands of dollars trying to rehab him without much success. He sometimes wears braces on his legs to help him walk and lies down when he needs a rest.
Herd Matriarch
Samara

Samara, the matriarch of the Herd came here in 2012 with her daughter Mocha. Samara was found estray on a highway in South San Antonio. Bexar County Animal Control picked her up and was shocked to find her baby on the ground the next day. She was so underweight, they didn’t know she was pregnant. (Picture to come. Camera shy.)
Herd Vice President
Mocha

Mocha is now 12 years old and a vital part of our Teaching Herd. She often dramatizes situations to women have an idea of the energy they are creating with certain situations. She is closely bonded with her mother and often, when dealing with Mother/Daughter issues, Mocha and Samara work in tandem.
"Red"
Heyoka

Red was found tied to a tree, with no food or water on FM 1863 during summer. A local dog boarding company took him in and asked if we could take him on full-time. He was a stallion and the boarding group agreed to geld him before he came here in 2019.
Shetland Pony
Muñeca

She came here a few years ago as a companion to Tucker. As a blind pony, she was getting bullied at her former home and Tucker needed a friend. The two are a match made in heaven. Muñeca follows Tucker wherever he goes and she keeps watch over him when he is lying down.
Donkey Duo
Luna and Diego

Luna and Diego were named Uno and Dos at the Habitat for Horses in South Texas. We knew they were a bonded pair and agreed to take them both. They are inseparable and Diego often hangs back while Luna does her healing work. Diego is not a fan of humans but Luna is a People lover.
Sheep Trio
Ash, Ani, and Bella

AshKiNa, our male sheep came to the Sanctuary with his full sister, AnishKa and his half sister, Bella. They were all orphaned when their mother died shortly after giving birth. They were all bottle fed and are the pushiest animals we have a the Sanctuary!
The Wizard Pig
Sully

Sully is a pot-bellied pig with a unique personality. He is quite the talker, and often has temper tantrums when his breakfast or dinner are late. He is often in the wooded areas playing with Jasper and Red, or serving as a scratching post for Jasper’s wooly face.

AnnaBelle and MayBel came to the Sanctuary with Sully, The Wizard Pig. MayBel is the leader of the goat/sheep herd, and all five ruminants keep the weeds and trees trimmed for the Sanctuary!
Fluff Pony
Marshmallow

Marshmallow is the newest addition to our Herd. He was in isolation before coming to us and this little bundle of fluff has quickly made friends with Red and Jasper the donkey. He has an abundance of energy and can often be seen flying through the pastures!
Lonely Boy
Jasper

Jasper came to the Sanctuary after being rescued from a kill pen with another horse who had to be euthanized due to years of neglect. Without his companion, Jasper needed friends. We were happy to take him on. He, Heyoka and Sully the pig can often be seen playing with each other. (Picture to come.)
Newest Baby to Herd
Brigid-Returned to The Star Nation

Named after the patron saint of healing, miracles and livestock, Brigid came to us undernourished and with a broken leg from an attack by the mother that rejected her. Sup[er cuddly and curious, she is our newest addition to the herd, and is still in a very sensitive situation, so she is healing behind closed fence and will be integrated in as she gets healther.
The Sacred 7 Sanctuary Herd
This is the space to introduce the SANCTUARY and what it has to offer. Define the qualities and values that make it unique.
Drumming with The Herd
The heart beating is a sound that connects All of us to all living things. Even the Plant and Tree people have a heartbeat. Drumming with The Herd involves drumming, rattling and singing in Nature with the Sanctuary Herd. The donkeys often like to sing along with us when we are out sharing our beat with the world.
Writing with The Herd
Poet Kate Bremer facilitates a free writing workshop quarterly. She offers us a reading from a poem with a specific them and we are asked to write something inspired from that poem or something completely different. We often share our work but there is never any editing or critique offered. We share what we love about each poem and specific words or phrases that catch our attention. The Herd is usually an inspiration for our work.
Herd2Heart Sessions
These are private sessions for one person, a couple of a small group up to six people. The Herd is allowed to come into the Circle of Healing and Sylvia Sitters facilitates the session based on the animals who come into the Circle. For example, Luna is keeper of the Heart chakra. As such, if someone is dealing with grief, a broken heart or something emotional, Luna will find her way to their heart chakra and help move the energy there.
These two-hour sessions often get to the “root” of an issue or limiting belief and the Herd provides input on how to shift that pattern.
